Colander2022 2021

As the title suggests, the Colander (2021-2022) series filters out function and image through the dense grids of the painting's support, bringing the remaining framework to the forefront. While these seemingly cupboard-like structures are equipped with elements such as handles that suggest usability, they are not constructed to be opened—therefore, they are neither open nor closed, unable to hold anything but the void. This raises the question of what can be seen through the gap of the firmly closed support when the desire to see something is deliberately sidestepped or attempts to open something are frustrated.
