Spilled Water2018

Spilled Water (2018) begins by replacing the support of painting with a cup and the image with water, based on the idea that the way the formal structure of the medium interferes with the content is akin to the relationship between a cup and water. The former (cup-support) functions as a container for the latter (water-image) but imposes limits on the possibilities of arrangement. On the other hand, if the water-image escapes the cup-support, it is liberated from the framework that constrains its nature. However, in doing so, it loses its physical base and risks the danger of evaporating. In order to reveal the dilemmatic relationship between the form and content of the medium, the series establishes an exceptional situation where the support and image exist independently from each other by employing the physical void that renders the picture plane malfunction.
